How To Plan Your 21st Birthday Celebration

Let’s just take a deep breath, before we carry on, shall we? DEEP BREATH, now let it out. Okay, are you calm now? Great, let’s begin! We all know the big TWO-ONE is pretty much a big deal and let’s face it, most of us look forward to this day for a long time. Of course, we understand that not all of us can afford a grandeur celebration and that’s okay! The important thing is to be able to celebrate it with your loved ones and reflect on how much you have grown into the amazing person you are now.

Back to the main point,  we think planning your big 2-1 is easy, but when push comes to shove, you will realise that it can be challenging. Though of course, anything is possible with passion and determination. So we, at Venuescape decided to share some tips on how to plan your 21st birthday celebration!

#1 Carve Out a Plan

Scribble down all the information you need somewhere where you will never lose – invitation list, budget etc. First of all, think of the theme you want for your birthday, then decide when and where to have it. You can come up with a list of venues, that way if one or the other isn’t fit for you, you have other options. Avoiding the need to crack your head again. But let’s be honest, you might as well head on to for an array of event spaces to choose from and/or give us a call for a FREE consultation and let us find the perfect venue for your 21st birthday party.

#2 Mood Board

Now that you’ve got everything scribbled down, create a mood board! Mood boards are useful and they really help when it comes to planning. If you wish to have invitations, then start sketching and designing them so you don’t have to worry about them later! We all know it’s definitely going on Instagram so might as well come up with your backdrop layout as well as the colour scheme you want for you cake and decorations!

#3 Survey

Remember, the list of places/venues you’ve come up with? If you have consulted us or made an inquiry via our platform, sit back, relax and we will handle it for you. However, if you do not like to take advantage of our free service (YES, IT IS FREE!), you may call each and every venue on your list to get quotations! Email them and ask for a quotation or you can just get it from our website. Make sure that you’ve been to the venue before and it’s fit for your theme and birthday celebration like how the glass slipper fitted Cinderella perfectly.

If you’re planning an Audrey Hepburn theme, Macalister Mansion (Penang) will be perfect for it or if you’re in KL –  The Aura will be ideal as its bare space makes for a perfect blank canvas for you to get creative! If you’re looking for something industrial for that rustic and vintage feel in the heart of KL, Slate will be a good fit or Glasshouse if you are expecting a bigger crowd. If you’re looking for a space that allows for natural lighting, check out Cornerstone.

If you are looking for a venue where you can get the whole works like cake, food, and a beautiful space that accommodates up to 30 pax, you may want to check out Delectable Cafe – delicious cake, beautiful interior and decor, and lots of natural lighting for pictures!

If you’re looking for to decorate the venue, you may want to check out D.H. Artful Decor who will do an AHMAYZING job in bringing life to your 21st birthday!

#4 Confirmation

One more week, till the special occasion. Ooh, exciting! So what you wanna do is to just call up the vendors you’ve chosen – decorations, cake, venue, dress, invites etc. Just make sure everything is done according to the way you want it. You can never be too careful when it comes to planning.

If you’re looking for a fascinating cake like the above, you may reach out to Kek & Co, their cakes are visually appealing and tastes like heaven on your taste buds.

#5 Have Fun

Hahah, the secret to planning is always to have fun and enjoy every moment of it. Don’t stress yourself too much if things don’t work out; remember that there are always alternatives. Sometimes the second best if the best option. And remember, it’s your party (so you can cry if you want to)! 😛

It may all seem a little too much but the joy of planning is impeccable. If you do ever give it a shot, do share it with us on Instagram or Facebook! For those of you, who are too busy, don’t worry. You can always come to us and you won’t miss the experience of planning as we will go through every single step with you.
