Having a storied past, from a 1942 pre-war building to being one of KL’s hottest night spots 10 years ago, The Row retains the charisma of the old but refreshed with a new, design conscious functionality which features 2 event spaces that are fast becoming one of KL’s event locale.
Built to permeate natural light, Slate is one of the newer, more creative event venues in Kuala Lumpur having first opened its doors in June 2015. Whether you’re planning a sophisticated cocktail party for clients, an intimate gathering for friends and family, a product launch for your brand, an extravagant soiree, or an educational seminar – Slate’s 3,300sqft fully air-conditioned, indoor space is a highly versatile and convertible venue for events, with 2,800sqft ground floor area and a 500 sqft mezzanine, complete with an AV system. Slate can comfortably accommodate up to 300 pax.
Aesthetically, Slate boasts a modern, raw and industrial style with brick walls against glass panelling, exposed metal beams and a high ceiling with sleek concrete flooring. Slate is simple yet bold, and undeniably filled with character. Aptly named, Slate provides a blank canvas that is easily transformable making it an exquisite setting for both social occasions such as weddings, and private parties, as well as, professional events, including product launches, art exhibitions, conferences, seminars and more. Slate can be styled to suit your imagination but don’t be surprised if you choose to leave it just as it is.
Slate also has the solution to your biggest party woe if you are a pet lover. Seeing as to how most event spaces in Malaysia are not pet-friendly, Slate aims to put an end to that problem and offers its space as a pet-friendly venue, so pet owners can throw parties with their furry friends present.
Slate has played host to over 50 events, many of it being product launches for corporate giants such as Red Bull, Heineken, Chivas 18, Microsoft Lumia, H&M’s new labels, Sephora’s new range of products, SAFILO sunglasses, as well as Monkey Shoulder whisky to name a few. They’ve also hosted fashion brands such as Levi, Warehouse, Vans, and Fred Perry.
Slate has also provided its venue for art exhibitions as there are hooks on the walls to hang art pieces without damaging the walls. They recently held a pet adoption drive in support of SPCA. And if you know your Malaysian music well, Paperplane Pursuit used Slate for one of their music videos – Who’s Gonna Stop Me?!
Well, we certainly won’t stop as Slate is also available for art and antique shows and award ceremonies – BMW held their BMW Shorties Awards Night here as well. Slate will also be a great place for intimate events such as weddings and birthdays.
The Deck, on the other hand, is a rooftop event space beautifully landscaped surrounded by trees and is ideal for cocktail parties and social celebrations. This 2,500sqft event venue is partly covered and can accommodate up to 150 pax.
This open air multipurpose event space lends itself to limitless creative opportunities. The flexibility of the venue gives you a chance to put your own stamp on your event. Ideal for outdoor events, Deck is equipped with fans and lights, a barbeque pit, a brick bar complete with basins and chillers, canopies as well as outdoor power points.
Deck had its maiden event on June 17th, with much more lined up. Ideally, Deck is perfect for open-air private parties, photo shoots, product launches, private and corporate dinners, as well as for TVC shoots and productions.
Here’s the kicker, if you are planning a bazaar, a festival or even a flea market, you may use the pavilion in front of the shop lots as well. So the next time you’re looking for a space to host your next event, consider The Row where convenience meets urban lifestyle.
Both Slate and Deck are located at The Row along Jalan Doraisamy and is owned by Urbanspace. The Row is a destination in itself and features an array of office units, shops, galleries, cafes, bars, and retail spaces.
