In our case, the sun is always shining but if we’re lucky the clouds will hover over the sun. Ever thought of heading to Penang for a weekend? If you think you shouldn’t, well think again! There are plenty of things to do in Penang for a weekend. Of course you can do the usual café hopping, but there are other things to do, especially on Sundays. So here’s the Venuescaper’s guide on what to do on Sunday Mornings in Penang!
Occupy Beach Street is in conjunction with Penang Car Free Day, this is where the whole of the Beach Street area will be closed. The street will be filled with activities, performances and stores. There’ll be food, merchandises, plants, geckos, spiders, dream catchers, phone cables, phone covers and all sort of stuff! You can even spot puppies and kittens that are up for adoption!
Every Sunday, 7AM-1PM
It’s great how they came up with this pop up market idea that allows our local entrepreneurs, artisans and talents to showcase their work and merchandises. They have different stores every week, so do keep an eye on their Facebook page to see what’s happening each week! Our Penang team went last Sunday, and they loved every bit of it – from the food, to the performances, to the products.
Every Sunday, 11AM-5Pm

If you haven’t been around the Georgetown Heritage Area, you’re definitely missing out! It may be hot, but it’s totally worth it. Just slap on some more sun block and you’re good to go! You can choose to either walk around or rent a bicycle and cycle around. Some of the street art are hidden, so do keep your eye out for them. I mean, you can create your own little game with your family and friends and see who finds the most street art!
