As Malaysia’s first mobile cocktail bar for private hire; KL Scenarium (KLS) is here to change the party and event scene in Kuala Lumpur; one cocktail at a time. Nicknamed Britney, an 18-foot food truck was modified into a bar with a professional mixologist on board to cater private events within private premises.
This new concept is the brainchild of two friends and entrepreneurs Ee-Lyn Tan and Vimal Kumar who hail from the food & beverage and technology industries.
After seeing the growing trend to invite food trucks for events, the gin and tequila-loving duo noticed that clients were left to arrange their own alcohol based drinks.
“It’s very common for events to serve beer, wines and spirits on the rocks but there are times we would have loved to have been sipping a mojito or negroni instead, so that’s how the idea came about,” said Ee-Lyn.
“This concept currently exists in many other countries including the US and UK and even in neighbouring Thailand but it was yet to be done here in Malaysia so we wanted to seize the opportunity,” Vimal added.
KLS’ services are currently available in the Klang Valley only with cocktail packages that start at RM3500 for 100 servings of cocktails with a minimum selection of two cocktails.
Their packages include:
● A fully portable mobile cocktail truck with changeable LED lighting
● Professional mixologist
● Serving staff
● A bespoke cocktail menu
● Option for mocktails
The eclectic menu is segmented into three sections that range from the classics such as mojitos, negronis and margaritas and extends into signature drinks created exclusively for KLS with an emphasis on local flavours like lemongrass and gula Melaka. There are also limited edition cocktails being designed for the upcoming holidays like Christmas and Chinese New Year.
The third segment of their menu includes shots and other novelty alcohol-infused desserts like jello shots, boozy popsicles and fruit kebabs.
Two of their signature cocktails was well received at the grand launch of KLS held at Slate @ The Row on 1 November 2017 where Ee-Lyn and Vimal hosted their friends, family, media and industry contacts. It was awesome, thanks for having us, guys!
Guests sipped on four cocktails; two classics and two signature which included;
● Twisted Mojito | Mint, Lime, Soda, White Rum and homemade Gula Melaka Syrup
● Tealantro | Earl Grey, Passionfruit, Cilantro, Lime and White Rum
● Frozen Laymong Grate | Lychee, Homemade Lemongrass Syrup, Lemon Juice and Vodka
● Negroni | Gin, Campari, Sweet Vermouth
They also served two signature mocktails:
● Watermelon Fizz | Ginger Ale, Watermelon, Lime
● New World | Pineapple, Lime, Calamansi
“We’ve drunk our fair share of cocktails to know what we like and what we don’t like. The use of fresh ingredients and quality alcohol is important to us,” said Ee-Lyn.
Their sales channels include working with event companies and event spaces as well as servicing events such as weddings, birthday parties, hens parties, stag nights, product launches, corporate events and more.
Future plans include increasing the number of trucks into their fleet to service more events in the Klang Valley.
“Our dream is to be able to send out multiple trucks all over Kuala Lumpur to service the many many events happening every single day.
“We are also looking to expand this into other states within Malaysia and hopefully other countries in time.
“Think Penang Scenarium, Bangkok Scenarium,” said Vimal.
