7 Must Watch Christmas Movies During This Holiday Season

Ho ho ho! It certainly is beginning to look a lot like MY favourite time of the year and what I love most about Christmas apart from spending precious time with loved ones are the Christmas movies! You can always count on them to help get you into the holiday spirit. There are so many favourites but here are a few that I can safely say, I watch every Christmas!

  • Home Alone (1990)

This classic and quirky tale is full of slapstick humour. Eight-year-old Kevin McAllister has to protect his house alone against a pair of goofy burglars. He was accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Paris. Watch his adventures as he tries to fend off the burglars. There’s Home Alone 2 and Home Alone 3 too for you to watch if you love this movie!

  • Elf (2003)

This tale tells about Buddy, a clownish orphan who tries to find his birth father in New York City when he discovers that he is not an elf. He was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised amongst Santa’s elves there. Watch how Elf brings joy and Christmas spirit everywhere he goes!

  • How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Jim Carrey puts on a big green Grinch suit to bring the famous cartoon to life in this movie. This heart-warming, live-action adaptation of Dr Seuss’s classic Christmas story tells about a grouchy Grinch and his adorable dog, Max who decide to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. Watch as Grinch learns to love Christmas after encountering a six-year-old girl who believes in the spirit of the festival.

  • While You Were Sleeping (1995)

If you are looking for a romantic Christmas movie, then this is perfect. After a lonely transit worker, Lucy saves her crush, Peter from the path of an oncoming train, she finds herself in a rather difficult situation. She pretends to be engaged to him while he was in a coma. Soon after she befriends his family who welcomes her with open arms. The only problem is, she ends up falling in love with his charming brother, Jack.

  • Miracle On 34th Street (1994)

You can’t go wrong with this remake of the 1940s classic about a young girl convincing her mother that Santa is real. Six-year-old Susan Walker is skeptical of the Christmas myth surrounding Santa Claus, a trait she perhaps learned from her mother, Dorey. Watch the story as Kris Kringle tries to prove that he is the real deal after claiming to be Santa himself.

  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

This Christmas classic tells about the hilarious misadventures of the Griswolds, which turn their happy Christmas plans into a domino effect of disasters. Clark Griswold wants to have a perfect Christmas and promises to make it a good one until he turns everything completely around. His family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark’s employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs. This movie will have you laughing the entire time!

  • The Santa Claus (1994)

It’s just not Christmas without this fun and feel-good movie. After Santa falls off the roof, Scott Calvin and his son are magically transported to the North Pole where Scott becomes the new Santa Claus. The only problem is, nobody, including Scott himself, believes that he is Santa. However, over the next several months he gains weight and grows an inexplicably white beard. There have been two sequels for this movie so make sure you check them out too!

I haven’t personally watched it, but reviews are raving about Klaus on Netflix, watch it and share your thoughts?
