The Quadrantids meteor shower will streak across the night sky this weekend, revealing up to 120 meteors per hour! The peak time to witness this magical occurrence is from 11pm on the 4th of January (Saturday) to the early hours on the 5th of January (Sunday).
The Quadrantids is one of the shortest and strongest meteor showers of the year, marking the first major meteor shower of 2020. While other meteor showers tend to stay at their peak for about two days, the peak period of the Quadrantids only lasts a few hours. According to NASA, it is considered to be one of the best annual meteor showers so you definitely don’t want to miss it!
If you are in any of the locations below, you’ll be able to view the magical sky clearly:
The best way to watch a meteor shower is to get to a location that has a clear view of the entire night sky. Escape the bright lights of the city and go somewhere with dark skies. Look for a spot that offers a wide, unobstructed view to maximise your chances of witnessing the meteor shower!
